Four pitchers held the DSL Astros Orange team to five hits and allowed just one walk over nine innings as the Phillies beat the Astros 6-0 in the opener of round-robin play for both teams.

Yilmar Samudio and Luis Mirabel both threw three innings and allowed just one hit each in the win with Mirabel getting the win for the Phillies. Samudio struck out four of the 10 batters he faced and Mirabel whiffed three of the 12 he faced in the game.
Leonardo Larez threw a scoreless seventh and Emmanuel Leon struck out two and allowed just two hits in two innings of work to lock up the win for the Phillies.
The Phillies had a pair of two-run innings with an RBI single from Nelson Prieto plating a run and an error letting another run score in the fifth. In the eighth, a dropped third strike allowed Jose Tovar to reach base with one out and Elian Adames followed with a single. The runners pulled off a double steal and it worked perfectly when a wild pitch scored Tovar and moved Adames to third. Javen Maduro then grounded a ball to second to score Adames to give the Phillies a pair of insurance runs.
Francisco Renteria had a third inning double but was left stranded on second in the third inning. The 17-year-old reigning DSL Player of the Week reached on a fielder’s choice in the fifth and scored on Prieto’s single. After reaching, Renteria stole second and went to third on an errant pickoff attempt.
Elsewhere in the DSL Playoffs
The Phillies are in Pool B for the round-robin portion of the postseason and are matched with the Astros, Angels, and Padres Gold teams.
The Padres Gold team is the defending DSL Cup champion and downed the Angels 14-1 on 14 hits and were helped by seven Angels errors in the game.
The rest of the way
The Phillies host the Angels on Friday and then play at the Padres DSL Complex against the Padres Gold team on Saturday.
