The Phillies have one more reliever from their Opening Day roster off of the Injured List. Jonathan Bowlan, who went on the IL back on April 13 made one rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

On Sunday, Bowlan was sent on a rehab assignment with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and pitched in game one of a doubleheader against Durham (Tampa Bay Rays). The outing went well with Bowlan’s one inning was clean with two strikeouts. The 29-year-old right-hander needed 16 pitches to work his way through the inning; 11 were strikes.

To make room for him on the active roster, the Phillies optioned reliever Nolan Hoffman back to Lehigh Valley. Hoffman will join the IronPigs in Syracuse for their series against the Mets.

The Phillies acquired Bowlan from Kansas City last December. The deal sent left-hander Matt Strahm to the Royals to acquire Bowlan. Last season Bowlan was 3-0, 2.25 in 24 relief outings with Triple-A Omaha. In the majors he made one start and 33 relief appearances with a 3.86 ERA to go with a 1-2 record. In three seasons with Kansas City, Bowlan is 1-4 with a 4.32 ERA in three starts and 34 relief appearances.

Bowlan was available out of the bullpen for new manager Don Mattingly Tuesday night in the opening game of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants.
