The Jersey Shore BlueClaws celebrated their 25th anniversary season in 2026, but the results on the field were hard to take. Jersey Shore finished 47-83, going 26-41 in the first half and 21-42 in the second half. The BlueClaws opened the second half 5-18. Mycal Jones, in his first year as a manager, guided a roster that changed constantly.
The organization’s decisions left Jersey Shore thin much of the year. Gage Wood skipped the level entirely, and Cody Bowker moved through quickly. The BlueClaws then lost Ramon Marquez, Marty Gair, John Spikerman, Luke Gabrysh, Ryan Degges and Jose Colmenares in trades. Several players promoted from Clearwater either struggled or were hurt soon after arriving. The club also signed players out of independent ball to fill the roster.
Ramon Marquez Earns Two Weekly Honors
The brightest individual performance belonged to right-hander Ramon Marquez. He was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 21 and again in late July, after throwing five scoreless one-hit innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts. He was the first BlueClaw since the club moved to High-A in 2021 to win two weekly league awards. Marquez posted a 1.50 ERA and struck out 43.4 percent of the batters he faced with Jersey Shore before he was traded.
The Phillies’ 2026 Paul Owens Award winners also have BlueClaws ties. Bryan Rincon played for Jersey Shore in parts of 2023, 2024 and 2025, and Alex McFarlane pitched there in 2025.
Offensive Leaders
Devin Saltiban led the club with 103 hits and 32 stolen bases and added seven home runs. Carter Mathison led the team with 12 home runs and stole 26 bases. Nick Biddison was second with 81 hits, batted .274, and added six homers and 20 steals. Kodey Shojinaga collected 74 hits. Brady Day led regulars with a .289 average, a .477 slugging percentage and an .858 OPS. Colmenares hit .278 with an .815 OPS before he was traded.
Late in the year, Juan Villavicencio, Nathan Humphreys and Alirio Ferrebus arrived from Clearwater. Ferrebus played only five games before an injury ended his season.
Pitching Leaders
Reese Dutton led the staff with 82.1 innings, a 3.39 ERA and 72 strikeouts. Gabrysh struck out 89 before his trade, the most on the club. Mavis Graves and Brandon Beckel each struck out 86, and Sam Highfill threw 74 innings with 83 strikeouts. Bowker and Juan Amarante each finished with a 3.28 ERA. Amarante moved into the rotation late in the season and started the finale. Out of the bullpen, Jose Pena Jr. posted a 2.59 ERA and struck out 35.1 percent of the batters he faced.
Looking Ahead
Opening Night 2027 at ShoreTown Ballpark is set for Friday, April 2, against Winston-Salem.
