It was almost a year ago when the Phillies went into the trade market and found a bona fide closer to add to their roster. Jhoan Duran came over from Minnesota in exchange for catching prospect Eduardo Tait and pitching prospect Mick Abel. Duran has solidified the backend of the Phillies bullpen and started the season with saves in each of his first 18 save opportunities with the Phillies. Even after the streak was snapped, Duran continued to put up strong numbers that were good enough to earn the NL Reliever of the Month Award for the month of June.
Duran’s streak of consecutive saves was snapped on June 9 in Toronto, but he has rebounded well and converted each of his five save opportunities since then to give him saves in five straight opportunities. In June, the right-hander allowed just two runs (both earned) in 11 innings of work for a 1.64 ERA for the month. Both of those runs came in the game in Toronto where the Blue Jays snapped Duran’s streak of consecutive saves.
Duran has been incredibly consistent this season. His May and June stats are incredibly similar:

Duran currently ranks third in the National League in saves and fifth in the majors in saves. Mason Miller (San Diego) and Ryan O’Brien (St. Louis) share the lead with 22 saves each. Cade Smith (Cleveland) leads the majors in saves with 26 saves, and Bryan Baker (Tampa Bay) is second with 23. Miller and O’Brien are next, followed by Duran.
