Ramon Marquez had a successful introduction to the South Atlantic League over the weekend. The 20-year-old right-hander made his debut in Jersey Shore Friday night against Greenville and threw five innings of no-hit baseball with just one walk allowed and six strikeouts.
Marquez opened the season with the Clearwater Threshers and joined the BlueClaws late last week. Marquez left with a two-run lead, but reliever Adilson Peralta allowed a run in the sixth inning and Keegan Batka gave up three runs in the ninth, which was his second inning of work. The ‘Claws were unable to battle back in the bottom of the ninth and Batka suffered the loss.
In six games with Clearwater, Marquez was 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA. On the season, he now has a combined ERA of 1.59. The Phillies signed Marquez in January of 2025 and he pitched 10 games in the Florida Complex League and four more with Clearwater last season.
Marquez had been named the FSL Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 11-17. He was also the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May.
