The Phillies and Mariners pulled off a minor trade deal Saturday when Philadelphia sent cash considerations to Seattle in exchange for infielder Nick Dunn, who was playing at Triple-A Tacoma where he had been placed on the Developmental List on Friday. The Phillies assigned Dunn to Double-A Reading.
Dunn, 28, was drafted by St. Louis in the fifth round of the 2018 Draft out of the University of Maryland. A left-handed hitter, Dunn was born in Sunbury, PA, in central Pennsylvania.
The Mariners gave Dunn a non-roster invitation to spring training and he put on a good show batting .350 with the team. Last season with Triple-A Memphis, Dunn hit 8-42-.316/.374/.467. Dunn came to the Mariners as a minor league free agent after being released by the Cardinals last October.
In 29 games with the Rainiers this season, Dunn had a line of 1-11-.184/.250/.255.
