Friday’s Surprise Saguaros game was canceled so the Phillies prospects in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) didn’t have a chance to add to their early season stats. Along with prospects from the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers, the Phillies prospects have helped the Saguaros to a 3-0 start this week in the AFL.
The Phillies had to replace a pair of players who did not make the trip to Arizona because of lingering injuries. Top infield prospect Aidan Miller was still feeling the effects of a minor injury that caused him to sit out the final three games of the Triple-A season, so the Phillies decided to sit him down and let him recover rather than risk aggravating the undisclosed injury. DeMartini missed the final nine games of the Double-A season and also had not recovered in time to risk playing in the AFL.
To fill the two spots the Phillies sent infielder Bryan Rincon and outfielder Dylan Campbell to Arizona to fill out the Surprise roster. Rincon played in the AFL last season and hit just .188 when the Phillies prospects were playing for the Glendale Desert Dogs. Rincon also hit just .181 with Jersey Shore this season, so the Phillies are hoping to see progression while he plays in Arizona. Campbell played with both Jersey Shore and Reading in 2025 and hit a combined .215/.298/.367/.665 this season. Like Rincon, the Phillies would like to see progress both offensively and defensively from Campbell.
With the Saguaros having played just three games, it’s difficult to gauge any real trends by players, but still worth taking a look at the early stats. Campbell had a big game on Wednesday when he went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run. Overall, Campbell is batting .333 (2-for-6) in two games. Rincon has gone 0-for-4 in the early going and Dante Nori is 1-for-4.
On the mound, Jack Dallas has made one relief appearance and threw three shutout innings with three strikeouts in the outing. Eiberson Castellano has made a start for the Saguaros and allowed just one run in three innings while whiffing four batters for a 3.00 ERA. Daniel Harper has a shutout inning of relief work and Tommy McCollum got a win in relief, but has a 9.00 ERA in his one inning of work. Jaydenn Estanista lasted just 0.2 innings and gave up three hits that resulted in two earned runs, exploding his ERA up to 27.00 after that one outing.
