Lehigh Valley IronPigs

It was a walk-off at Coca-Cola Park as the IronPigs got an RBI single from Payton Henry with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to pull off an 8-7 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers). Lehigh Valley got a pair of two-run home runs from Otto Kemp and Gabriel Rincones Jr. in the first and third innings, respectively to take a 4-1 lead through three innings. Rincones added another RBI in the fourth when he came up with runners on first and third and one out and hit a groundball to second that allowed a run to score after Toledo had put a run on the board in the top of the fourth. Toledo held a 7-5 lead going to the bottom of the sixth and Rodolfo Castro led off with a home run to make it 7-6. Oscar Mercado drove in a run in the seventh with a groundball to tie the game and Henry’s bases loaded single in the ninth won it for the IronPigs.

Andrew Painter had an up-and-down night as he worked through 5.1 innings, but was bombed for 10 hits and seven runs – six earned – while striking out five. The bullpen combination of Seth Johnson, Lucas Sims, and Michael Mercado held Toledo off the board for the final 3.2 innings to allow for the Lehigh Valley comeback. Mercado (6-1, 4.81) got the win.

Reading Fightin Phils

Reading was having a lot of fun at the plate Wednesday night when they put 16 runs on the board to beat the Yard Goats 16-4 in Hartford. Jose Rodriguez and Felix Reyes – the number three and four hitters for Reading – each had three hits and Reyes drove in five runs, three on a home run and two on a double. Dylan Campbell also homered for the Fightins, launching a three-run shot in the fourth inning. In addition to pounding out 15 hits, Reading hitters walked 11 times in the game and Hartford committed two errors, leading to two unearned runs.

Charles King (8-6, 4.39) got the win with five innings of work, allowing two earned runs. Alex McFarlane, John McMillon, Jaydenn Estanista, and Andrew Walling covered the final four innings and allowed just two unearned runs. Reading pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts in the game.

Jersey Shore BlueClaws

Jersey Shore also won on a walk-off, but theirs came in the bottom of the 10th. Jose Colmenares, who had a two-run triple in the second, drove in the tying run in the ninth with an RBI double. Brock Vradenburg scored a run on a single, a passed ball, wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly from Dante Nori in the fifth as the ‘Claws took a 3-2 lead. Brooklyn went up 4-3 in the sixth and it stayed that way until Colmenares’ ninth inning heroics. Jersey Shore had a runner on third with two out when John Spikerman was intentionally walked, but Nori, who was the runner on third, scored when Brett Banks launched a wild pitch to give the game to the BlueClaws.

Saul Teran (3-0, 1.44) got the win throwing a perfect top of the tenth, striking out two batters. Starter Brandon Beckel allowed two earned runs in five innings and Kevin Warunek allowed two more in just 0.1 innings of work. Jose Pena Jr. retired all five batters he faced and Jake Eddington, Cristhian Tortosa, and Teran followed with an inning of scoreless ball by each.

Clearwater Threshers

Clearwater dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Tampa Tarpons, falling 6–2 in the first and 4–0 in the second. The Threshers’ offense was largely stifled across both contests, managing just two runs and two hits total.

In Game 1, Clearwater scored twice but couldn’t overcome Tampa’s early 2-0 lead. Clearwater got a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Manolfi Jimenez and Jonathan Hogart‘s sac fly in the fifth scored Nathan Humphreys, who led off the inning with a walk and went to third on a single by Nolan Beltran. Giussepe Velasquez allowed five runs in three innings as Clearwater’s starter and Raymon Rosario allowed another run in two innings of work. Payton Havard and Aaron Combs each threw a shutout inning.

Game 2 was even tougher as three Tampa pitchers held the Threshers hitless and allowed just two walks for the 4-0 shutout and the sweep. Starter Juan Amarante (1-3, 4.45) gave up all four of the Tampa runs in three innings. Cole Gilley, the Phillies 10th round pick in the 2025 Draft, made his professional debut with two shutout innings, walking one and striking out three. Gabe Craig threw a clean bottom of the sixth.

The Threshers are still alive in the FSL playoff hunt with a magic number of two to clinch a spot, meaning any combination of wins by Clearwater or Bradenton losses that equal two would guarantee Clearwater a postseason birth.
