Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The IronPigs edged out the Omaha Storm Chasers 7–6 in a game shortened to five innings by rain. Lehigh Valley exploded for six runs in the second inning by playing some small-ball and taking advantage of defensive miscues. Josh Breaux walked with the bases loaded for the first run and Rodolfo Castro singled to drive in another run. The final earned run scored on a groundball by Johan Rojas and an error opened the door for three unearned runs to cross the plate. Otto Kemp doubled to drive in a run in the fourth inning for the ‘Pigs. The IronPigs tallied six hits and drew four walks. Their plate discipline and timely hitting were key, especially in the second inning surge.

On the mound, IronPigs’ starter Alan Rangel was hurt by home runs, giving up three longballs in a six-run third inning and seven hits overall in just four innings of work. Jacob Waguespack (2-0, 1.14) threw a perfect fifth inning to record the win for Lehigh Valley.

Jersey Shore BlueClaws

Despite a standout performance from Dante Nori, the BlueClaws fell to the Aberdeen IronBirds 8–5. Nori, the Phillies’ 2024 first-round pick, went 4-for-4 with four stolen bases and an RBI double. His aggressive baserunning and consistent contact at the plate were the offensive highlights of the night. He now has 10 stolen bases in just five games with Jersey Shore.

The BlueClaws jumped out to a 4–1 lead thanks to a three-run second inning that was highlighted by two double steals and a balk. On the first double steal, Jordan Dissin stole home for one of his two stolen bases on the night. Nori had two steals in the inning and four overall in the game. In addition to four hits in four at-bats, Nori walked in his fifth plate appearance, scored twice, and drove in a run for Jersey Shore. Aroon Escobar also stole his 12th base of the season for Jersey Shore to give the ‘Claws seven stolen bases in the game.

Starter Luke Gabrysh pitched five innings and struggled with his command, walking five batters and giving up two hits, one of which was a home run. However, Alex McFarlane (2-9, 4.72) took the loss after surrendering three runs in relief in 1.1 innings of work.
