Lehigh Valley IronPigs
Lehigh Valley extended its win streak to three games with an 11–4 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park. The IronPigs jumped out to a 4–0 lead, highlighted by Rodolfo Castro’s three-run homer in the second inning, marking the third straight game that Castro has gone deep. Omaha clawed back to tie the game by the sixth, but Lehigh Valley responded with a five-run seventh inning. The rally began with bases-loaded walks to Rafael Lantigua and Paul McIntosh, who was promoted from Double-A Reading earlier in the day. The walks were followed by RBI singles from Payton Henry and Josh Breaux. Castro capped the inning with a sacrifice fly. In the ninth, McIntosh and Henry hit back-to-back solo homers to seal the win. Castro finished with four RBI, while Henry and McIntosh each drove in two. Otto Kemp reached base twice and was hit by a pitch for the 19th time this season, setting a franchise record.
On the mound, Lucas Sims earned the win with two innings of one-run relief, striking out three. Starter Adonis Medina allowed two runs – one earned – over three innings, and the bullpen held Omaha to two runs over the final six innings.
Lehigh Valley improved to 76–53 overall and 30–25 in the second half. Their balanced offensive attack and timely pitching continue to fuel their hopes for a playoff spot.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading rallied late to defeat the Chesapeake Baysox 6–4 at FirstEnergy Stadium. After falling behind early, the Fightins tied the game in the second with a passed ball and a sacrifice fly from Cade Fergus. The game remained tight until the eighth, when Reading broke through with a four-run inning. Erick Brito delivered the go-ahead blow – a two-run double – followed by a two-RBI double from Robert Moore to extend the lead to 6–2. Brito and Moore combined for four RBI, while Fergus and Felix Reyes each scored a run.
Braydon Tucker started for Reading and allowed two unearned runs over 5.2 innings, striking out five and walking one. Andrew Walling earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings and three strikeouts in relief. Andrew Bechtold allowed a two-run homer in the ninth but closed out the win.
The win snapped Chesapeake’s three-game win streak and improved Reading’s second-half record to 23–32. Reading showed resilience, capitalizing on defensive miscues and delivering in clutch moments throughout the game.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
The ‘Claws used a trio of three-run innings on their way to a 10-7 win over Aberdeen on Friday. Aroon Escobar launched a solo home run in the first inning and later, Raylin Heredia added a two-run single to give Jersey Shore a 3-0 lead. Heredia would take his turn hitting a solo home run when he went deep to start the fourth inning. Two more runs scored on wild pitches in the inning as the BlueClaws, who saw Aberdeen tie the game in the bottom of the third, went back on top 7-4. The final three runs came in the eighth on a three-run home run by Jose Colmenares with Kodey Shojinaga and Trent Farquhar on base. Farquhar was on base in all four of his plate appearances and scored a pair of runs.
Mavis Graves got the start and was hit hard, lasting just 2.2 innings. Erik Ritchie, pitching in just his second game for Jersey Shore, pitched the next 2.1 innings and allowed just a walk to earn the win. He has started his stint in High-A ball with 3.1 scoreless innings and has allowed no hits and just one walk to go with six strikeouts. Casey Steward threw two scoreless innings and of the six outs he recorded, five were on strikeouts. Jake Eddington came on to pitch the ninth and allowed two runs and recorded just one out before giving way to Kevin Warunek, who got the final two outs to record his first save.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater broke out of a five-game skid with a 10–6 win over the Daytona Tortugas at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The Threshers scored eight runs in the first three innings, including home runs from Jonathan Hogart, Nolan Beltran, and Carter Mathison. Hogart’s solo shot opened the scoring, Beltran followed with a two-run blast, and Mathison added a three-run homer in the third. Hogart, Beltran, and Mathison combined for six RBI. Raider Tello added two hits and scored twice, while Luke Davis and Tyler Pettorini each reached base multiple times.
Josbel García earned his first win of the season, allowing four runs over five innings with five strikeouts. The bullpen held Daytona to two runs over the final four frames, with solid outings from Juan Amarante and Orlando Gonzalez.
Clearwater improved to 66–55 overall and 30–25 in the second half, regaining momentum in the series.
