Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs mounted a late rally but fell just short in a 5–4 loss to the Buffalo Bisons. Offensively, Justin Crawford continued his hot streak, notching his third multi-hit game of the series and extending his hitting streak to 12 games. He drove in a run with a fifth-inning RBI double following Johan Rojas’ triple. Brewer Hicklen added an RBI fielder’s choice in the eighth, and Robert Moore delivered a clutch two-run double to bring the IronPigs within one. Despite the surge, they couldn’t capitalize in the ninth. On the mound, starter Mitch Neunborn lasted 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three. The bullpen held Buffalo scoreless over the final three innings, giving the offense a chance to claw back. The IronPigs showed resilience, especially in the eighth inning, but were ultimately undone by a fifth-inning three-run homer from Buffalo’s Josh Rivera. The team returns home to face Durham after an off-day, looking to build on their offensive momentum.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading and Akron came to swing the bats on Sunday scoring a combined 29 runs on on 33 hits – 24 by Akron – as the Fightins fell to Akron 19-10. Reading’s offense exploded early with a five-run first inning, highlighted by Caleb Ricketts and Paul McIntosh RBI singles and a two-run triple from Leandro Pineda. The team added back-to-back home runs in the fourth from Pineda and Bryson Ware, the latter marking his first Double-A homer. Felix Reyes added a two-run blast in the sixth, his 12th of the season. Despite the offensive fireworks, Reading’s pitching faltered. Starter Wil Crowe allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits in just three innings. Relievers struggled to contain Akron’s relentless attack, which included a seven-run fourth inning and a total of 24 hits. Gunner Mayer and Tristan Garnett were unable to stem the tide, with Garnett surrendering multiple runs in the ninth. Offensively, Reading showed up and scored 10 runs thanks to contributions across the lineup. However, the pitching staff couldn’t match Akron’s firepower, and the Fightins were outpaced in a high-scoring affair. The team will look to regroup against Altoona, hoping to carry forward their offensive momentum while shoring up their pitching.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Jersey Shore delivered a dominant performance, blanking Wilmington 7–0 to secure a series split. The offense was steady and opportunistic. Brock Vradenburg opened the scoring in the second with an RBI single. Raylin Heredia starred with two RBI, including a sixth-inning single and a ninth-inning sacrifice fly. Kehden Hettiger added an RBI single in the ninth, and two more runs were walked in with the bases loaded. Devin Saltiban chipped in with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. The BlueClaws’ pitching was exceptional, with the staff combining for a three-hit shutout, with the starter and bullpen stifling Wilmington’s lineup. Jersey Shore collected 11 hits – 10 of them singles – with the only extra-base hit being a double by Hettiger. Saltiban, Hettiger, Jose Rodriguez, and Jose Colmenares each collected two hits in the game. Jersey Shore’s balanced attack and airtight pitching made this one of their most complete performances of the season. They’ll look to build on this momentum heading into their next series, which begins Tuesday against Hudson Valley.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater used late-inning power to edge Lakeland 4–2. The game was tied 1–1 entering the eighth when Jonathan Hogart launched a leadoff home run, his first professional homer. Matthew Ferrara followed with a two-run blast, also his first career homer, giving the Threshers a decisive lead. Raider Tello had earlier tied the game in the sixth with an RBI single following Dante Nori’s triple. On the mound, Camron Hill allowed one run over 3.1 innings, walking four and striking out four. Josbel García was solid in relief, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout. Danyony Pulido earned the win with 1.1 innings of one-run ball, and Orlando Gonzalez closed it out with two strikeouts for the save. The Threshers showed timely hitting and strong bullpen work, with Hogart and Ferrara’s homers providing the spark. The pitching staff combined for a well-managed outing, limiting Lakeland to just two runs. Clearwater’s win marked their first series victory over Lakeland since 2023, and they’ll carry that confidence into their upcoming series against Jupiter.
