There’s been some movement of players joining the Phillies organization, leaving the organization, and moving from one level to another. Here is a look at some of those moves over the past week:
- P Aaron Nola and 3B Alec Bohm activated from the IL by the Phillies
- P Zack Wheeler placed on IL (blood clot in shoulder)
- INF/OF Otto Kemp optioned to Lehigh Valley
- P Daniel Robert activated from the IL and optioned from Philadelphia to Lehigh Valley
- OF Cal Stevenson and P Brett de Geus released
- OF Oscar Mercado re-signed to a minor league deal and assigned to Lehigh Valley
- SS Jose Colmenares to a minor league deal and assigned him to Jersey Shore
- SS Zach Arnold and 3B Bryson Ware moved from Jersey Shore to Reading
- SS Jose Rodriguez (RDG) sent on a rehab assignment to Jersey Shore
- Ps Titan Kennedy-Hayes, Kevin Warunek, OF John Spikerman, SS Nikau Pouaka-Grego, and C Kodey Shojinaga moved from Clearwater to Jersey Shore
- Minor league players P Drew Garrett, C Jared Thomas, 2B Pierce Bennett, SS Diego Gonzalez, and OF Jordan Viars all released
With Nola and Bohm returning from their rehab assignments, one spot was opened when Wheeler went on the IL with a blood clot in his right shoulder. The second spot opened when utility man Otto Kemp was optioned to Lehigh Valley. Kemp and Weston Wilson are basically the same type of player who are able to play the same positions. Wilson has heated up offensively, which left Kemp as the odd man out. Nola had been on the 60-day IL, so the Phillies needed to open a spot on the 40-man roster, which is why Stevenson was released.
