Andrew Painter continues to work his way toward making his major league debut following Tommy John surgery. Along the way, Painter has impressed coaches and scouts alike with his velocity and the ability to get hitters out and he has now been honored by being selected to be a part of the National League roster for the 2025 All-Star Futures Game at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 12th.

MLB Pipeline has Painter ranked as the number five prospect in all of baseball and is the top prospect in the Phillies farm system. With the IronPigs, Painter has gone 3-2 with a 4.24 ERA in 40.1 IP, striking out 45 this season. In four other starts with Clearwater, Painter went 0-2, 3.97. His combined line on the season stands at: 3-4, 4.18, 13 starts, 51.1 IP, 49 H, 19 BB, 57 KO with eight home runs allowed, a 1.32 WHIP and opponents are hitting .246 against him.

Painter is the first IronPig to represent the club in the Futures Game since Enyel De Los Santos participated in the exhibition in 2018.

It is very possible that Painter’s battery mate will be former teammate, Clearwater Threshers catcher Eduardo Tait. The 18-year-old catcher is the number 69 prospect in all of baseball and the number four prospect in the Phillies organization. Tait is batting 10-42-.256/.328/.449 in 65 games with the Threshers.

It is very possible that Tait will be included in post all-star break promotions in the organization with a move up to High-A Jersey Shore. Combined with last season, Tait now has played 93 games in Low-A ball, batting 15-66-.260/.324/.453 since coming to the states from the Dominican Summer League.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with MLB Pipeline, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players named to each team. The 2025 All-Star Futures Game, which is scheduled for seven innings, will once again feature a National League vs. American League format, which was introduced in 2019 following 20 years of U.S. vs. World matchups. The Futures Game will air exclusively live on MLB Network and simulcast on MLB.TV, MLB.com and in the MLB App. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
