Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs suffered their fourth consecutive loss, falling 11–5 to the Rochester Red Wings at Coca-Cola Park. Despite the lopsided score, there were some offensive bright spots. Gabriel Rincones Jr. launched his eighth home run of the season in the second inning, tying the game at 1–1. Nick Dunn followed with an RBI single to give Lehigh Valley a brief 2–1 lead. Rodolfo Castro added a two-run homer in the ninth, his sixth of the year, as part of a late rally. The IronPigs totaled eight hits, with Dunn and Castro each driving in multiple runs. On the mound, Wil Crowe struggled in his IronPigs debut, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings. The bullpen couldn’t contain Rochester’s offense, surrendering six more runs. Lehigh Valley’s pitching staff gave up three home runs and 14 hits overall. The loss dropped the IronPigs into a tie for first place in the International League East Division.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading fell 8–5 to the Hartford Yard Goats at FirstEnergy Stadium, despite a historic performance from Hendry Mendez. The outfielder hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a triple, home run, double, and single. He drove in multiple runs and scored three times, becoming the first Fightin Phil to hit for the cycle since at least 2005. Seth Beer added an RBI double, and Alex Binelas contributed a sacrifice fly. Starter Mitch Neunborn began strong, striking out two in the first inning and allowing just one run through two frames. However, he was tagged for additional runs in the third and exited in the fourth. The bullpen allowed three more runs, and Reading’s comeback attempt fell short in the ninth. The team finished with 10 hits, five of which came from Mendez and Beer. Despite the loss, Mendez’s milestone night was a major highlight.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Hudson Valley hit five home runs and topped the BlueClaws 11-1 Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark. Duke Ellis hit two of the five homers for Hudson Valley, who opened the second half by handing Jersey Shore their largest loss since 2023. BlueClaws starter Mavis Graves came out after five innings. He retired the first three batters he faced, and the last nine, but gave up four homers to the middle eight hitters to take the loss. Jersey Shore got on the board in the fourth on a double from Pierce Bennett. Bryson Ware came around to score after an error on the play by the left-fielder. The five homers allowed by Jersey Shore came one off the club record of six, set twice, most recently in 2021.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater edged the Dunedin Blue Jays 1–0 in a tightly contested pitchers’ duel at BayCare Ballpark. The Threshers scored the game’s only run in the seventh inning and held on for the shutout win. The pitching staff was dominant, combining for a nine-inning shutout while scattering just a few hits. Starter Tyler Degges delivered another strong outing, continuing his impressive season with multiple strikeouts and no earned runs. The bullpen preserved the lead with clean innings, showcasing excellent command and poise. Offensively, the Threshers managed only a handful of hits but made the most of their opportunities. The decisive run came via a timely hit and aggressive baserunning. The win marked Clearwater’s second shutout victory of the series and improved their record to 37–30, keeping them in the thick of the Florida State League playoff race.
