The Lehigh Valley IronPigs faced the Charlotte Knights and saw their five-game winning streak come to an end with an 8-3 loss. Charlotte took an early lead with a home run by Brooks Baldwin and a two-run shot by Andre Lipcius. The IronPigs fought back in the third inning, tying the game at 3-3 with an RBI single from Erick Brito, a sacrifice fly by Otto Kemp, and an RBI double from Garrett Stubbs. However, Charlotte regained the lead in the bottom of the third and continued to add runs throughout the game. The IronPigs managed seven hits but couldn’t overcome Charlotte’s offense. Andrew Painter took the loss, allowing four runs in four innings.
The Reading Fightins played the Harrisburg Senators and suffered a heartbreaking 7-6 loss on a walk-off home run by former Fightin Phil Carlos De La Cruz. Reading initially took the lead in the second inning with a three-run home run by Paul McIntosh, followed by a two-run shot from Keaton Anthony in the sixth. Anthony extended his on-base streak to 20 games and now leads the Eastern League in batting average at .342. Despite adding an insurance run in the eighth, Reading couldn’t hold off Harrisburg’s late-game rally, culminating in De La Cruz’s game-winning homer.
The Jersey Shore BlueClaws struggled against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, falling 8-2. Bowling Green took control early, with designated hitter Tyler Herron scoring the first run. The BlueClaws managed only two runs, while Bowling Green’s offense continued to pile on runs throughout the game. Jersey Shore’s defense and pitching couldn’t contain Bowling Green’s hitters, leading to a decisive loss.
The Clearwater Threshers’ game against the Bradenton Marauders was postponed due to rain and inclement weather at BayCare Ballpark. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, June 5.
