The Lehigh Valley IronPigs used a big night from catcher Payton Henry to erase an early 2-0 deficit for a 5-4 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Henry had two home runs and a single to drive in three runs and pace the Lehigh Valley Offense. The bullpen allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks over five innings of relief, while striking out six batters. Max Lazar pitched the ninth to get his first save of the season and the win went to Joe Kuhnel.

  • Henry’s home runs went 379 feet to left field and 413 feet to dead center field. The second one, which went to center, had an exit velocity of 108.3 mph.
  • Otto Kemp hit his first Triple-A home run in the bottom of the sixth, a two-run, 381 foot shot to left field on a 1-0 pitch.
  • Justin Crawford was on base four times with a fielder’s choice, two singles to right and a walk. He was caught stealing in the first before swiping second base in both the 7th and 8th innings. He was hitting second in the lineup.
  • Rodolfo Castro has given up switch-hitting and will play as a right-handed hitter. He went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts against right-handers and was 0-for-1 with a walk facing lefties in the game.
  • Starter Alan Rangel lasted four innings and allowed three runs, all of which were earned.
  • Kuhnel, Nicholas Padilla, Michael Mercado, and Lazar all threw a shutout inning. Nick Vespi allowed one run in 1/2 of an inning.
  • Prior to the game, the IronPigs placed INF Erick Brito on the Developmental List.

The series continues Saturday with Seth Johnson going for Lehigh Valley and right-hander Sean Boyle starting for the RailRiders.
