Scott Kingery and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs are both off to good starts. On Friday, Kingery homered to tie the game in Rochester and Saturday, his second home run of the season put the IronPigs up early 1-0. On Friday, Aramis Garcia led off the ninth with a game-tying home run and in the 10th, Vimael Machin put the ‘Pigs up to stay with a two-run home run in an 8-7 game.
Saturday, Kingery’s home run put the ‘Pigs in front before Rochester tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Lehigh Valley went up 2-1 in the eighth when Kody Clemens singled home Kingery, who tripled off the center field fence.
Jeremy Walker threw two shutout innings in relief Saturday to get the win and Trey Cobb threw a perfect ninth inning to get the save. McKinley Moore threw the final two innings of Friday’s game, giving up a hit, two walks and one unearned run to get the win.
The starting pitching was vastly different in game two than it was in game one. Michael Plassmeyer started the opener on Friday and threw 3 1/3 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs to go with no walks and five strikeouts. In Saturday afternoon’s game, TJ Zeuch allowed just one earned run on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Machin leads the team in hitting at .571 (4-for-7), with Simon Muzziotti batting .400 (4-for-8).
