
Lehigh Valley IronPigs lost to Durham 12-5

Manager Anthony Contreras had a little fun with the lineup for Friday’s game against the Durham Bulls. Otto Kemp moved in from left field to start at third base and Christian Cairo, who is normally stationed in the infield, moved out to left field. With his spot taken by Kemp, Carter Kieboom moved over to first base.
Caleb Ricketts extended his hitting streak to five games with a first inning, two-run home run. He has three doubles and three home runs – one of them a walk-off HR – during the streak. He is hitting (.444) 8-18 during the streak during the streak.
Ryan Cusick was given a 3-0 lead in the first and retired seven of the first eight hitters until things went well off the rails. In the third, he walked six hitters that played a role in a seven-run inning for Durham. Colin Peluse came on to relieve Cusick in the inning and promptly gave up a three-run home run to Logan Davidson.
Durham stole four bases in four attempts in the third inning. In the series opener Tuesday, the Bulls were 8-8 in stolen bases to set an IronPigs franchise record for stolen bases allowed in a game. Durham has stolen an unbelievable 22 bases in 24 attempts through the first four games of the series.

Reading Fightins lost to New Hampshire 9-0

Braydon Tucker got the start for Reading. In his last two starts, covering 10 innings, he had allowed just one run on eight hits and two walks with 14 strikeouts. The right-hander allowed one earned run on three hits and three walks over six innings, with eight strikeouts against the Fisher Cats Friday night. While it was a strong outing, the one run in six innings actually raised Tucker’s ERA from 1.29 to 1.35 this season. Tucker has a 1.10 WHIP and a .209 opponents against average.
Meanwhile, reliever Cristhian Tortosa got torched in the loss. The lefty started the seventh inning in relief of Tucker and walked the first three hitters he faced and got a quick hook in favor of Jack Dallas. After getting the first out, Dallas gave up a single, a sac fly, hit a batter, and then a bases clearing double to Jace Bohrofen. Tortosa had five appearances without allowing an earned run coming into the game, but the three runs without retiring a batter ballooned his ERA to 5.40.
Dallas has allowed an earned run in four of his seven outings this season and his ERA is now at 7.71 with opponents hitting .309 against him.
Austin Murr has hit safely in 14 of the 15 games he has played for Reading and went 2-4 with two doubles Friday to send his average up to .333 (18-54) on the season. After homering in each of the two previous games, Murr has three home runs and seven RBI on the season.

Jersey Shore BlueClaws – postponed by rain

Ryan Dromboski was scheduled to make his fourth start of the season, but after a long rain delay, the game was officially postponed. After rough outings in his first two starts, Dromboski had a 5.40 ERA, but rebounded in start number three with six scoreless innings.
In one start and two relief appearances, Reese Dutton has not allowed a run in 12 innings. Opponents have just two hits against him for an .051 batting average and the hits combined with just three walks put his WHIP at 0.42. He has struck out 11 hitters. Sam Highfill has three starts with 13 innings of work this season with a 0.69 WHIP and a .077 batting average against. His ERA is 0.69.
Right-hander Brandon Beckel has made four relief appearances and pitched 10.2 innings this season. He has a 0.87 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and a .143 average against.
Jose Colmenares, 24, leads the BlueClaws in hitting with a .391 average in 13 games this season. He also has a .500 OBP, and a .543 SLG for a 1.043 OPS.

Clearwater Threshers lost to Bradenton 3-0

A two-out single by Alirio Ferrebus in the fourth inning was the only hit of the game for Clearwater. Four Bradenton pitchers walked just two hitters in the game as well as allowing just one hit.
Ferrebus has now hit safely in all four games of the series (5-13) with a double, a home run, and five RBI. On the season, Ferrebus now hitting .298/.397/.491/.888 with two home runs, 14 RBI and is 3-3 in stolen bases.
Brad Pacheco threw four innings in relief and allowed just one earned run. In 15 IP, Pacheco has walked just three and struck out 17 hitters for Clearwater. Pacheco has had one rough outing in his four appearances. In his other three outings, he has 11 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K (1.64 ERA).
MT Morrissey has not allowed a run in 10.2 innings of work. He has made one start and three relief appearances this season. He has allowed six walks in his 10.2 innings though while striking out 12.
The Threshers have been involved in a lot of pitcher’s duels this season. Their staff has an ERA of 3.73 and their opponents have a combined 3.10 ERA. At the plate, Clearwater is batting .196 and their opponents are at .201 through the early going.
