If you had Dante Nori to hit two home runs for Italy on Saturday night, go collect your winnings. The 21-year-old Phillies prospect had a big night at the plate for Team Italy in their 8-0 win over Brazil. Nori was on base in all four plate appearances with a walk in the third, a double in the fifth and his two home runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Nori is not a guy who is counted on to hit a lot of home runs. Nori has just four home runs in 139 career minor league games in the Phillies organization with all four of them coming last season when he was with the Clearwater Threshers. Nori played left field and hit ninth for Italy on Saturday.
Nori played at three different levels last season and reached as high as Double-A Reading, but he played just five games there very late in the season. It’s likely that he will begin the 2026 season either at Jersey Shore or with Reading if the Phillies believe he is ready to play at that level after just 11 games with Jersey Shore in 2025.
Coming into the season, Nori was sixth on the Philly Baseball News Top 26 for ’26 prospect rankings. Baseball America ranked Nori as the Phillies sixth best prospect and The Athletic also ranked him sixth. MLB Pipeline has him seventh coming into the 2026 season.
Nori is not the only Phillies prospect on Team Italy. He is joined by Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola, who is tentatively scheduled to pitch for Italy on Wednesday when they face Mexico.
While Nori is not particularly well known for his home run prowess, Kyle Schwarber is. The Phillies designated hitter also homered on Saturday in Team USA’s win over Great Britain. Schwarber was batting leadoff for the United States and had a walk and a single in addition to the two-run home run as Team USA downed Great Britain 9-1. Bryce Harper had a single and a run scored as the clean-up hitter and was also hit by a pitch.
Brad Keller, a new addition to the Phillies bullpen pitched a clean ninth inning and struck out two hitters.
