Who says there is no baseball in the winter. All you have to do is go where it’s summer; Australia. The Australian Baseball League (ABL) is two days into its season and the Adelaide Giants have five Phillies prospects on their roster with up to three more possibly joining them in next month. Like the Arizona Fall League, which just finished, the Phillies select the players that they want to play in the ABL. This year’s contingent includes pitchers Camron Hill, Danyony Pulido, and Giussepe Velasquez. Position players Alirio Ferrebus and Devin Saltibus are also on the Adelaide roster. The Giants are one of the dominating teams in the ABL having won three of the last four championships.
“We’re building on a relationship that’s been steadily growing for the last seven years,” says Mackenzie Bourke, the Giants Assistant General Manager and a Clubhouse / Travel Manager in the Phillies’ minor leagues, speaking to an Australian publication recently. “There’s been a trust built, so this year it’s great to see the Phillies expand their relationship and not only send more players, but increased support for the baseball community in Australia.”
Who the Phillies are sending…
Alirio Ferrebus (catcher) – The Venezuelan product is known for a solid, contact-first type of swing that generates strong exit velocities. Ferrebus has a 14.4% strikeout rate, which is a very low mark, especially for a 20-year-old. Ferrebus is developing the ability to send the ball to all fields as well. MLB Pipeline currently has Ferrebus rated as the 27th best prospect in the Phillies organization.
Devin Saltiban (outfielder) – He has a quick swing and excellent bat speed, which drew the Phillies to draft him in the third round of the 2023 MLB Draft. The Phillies believe that he will develop power even though at 5′ 10″, the right-handed hitter is on the small side. Saltiban, 20, played 10 games in the Florida Complex League (FCL) in 2025 before being quickly jumped up to High-A Jersey Shore where he hit .190 in 66 games.
“Saltiban is exciting. He’s been an infielder but the Phillies are putting him in the outfield. He’s here to work on his craft in a new position,” said Bourke. “He was once ranked seventh on the Top 30 prospects list, one of the most hyped prospects we’ve had Down Under.”
Saltiban is currently ranked 14th by MLB Pipeline.
Camron Hill (LHP) – You have to love pitchers with size and Hill’s 6′ 6″ frame helps him deliver with good velocity around the 96 mph mark in his young career. Hill debuted in the FCL in 2025 before moving up to Low-A Clearwater. He made 7 starts and one relief appearance with a 4.15 ERA with 23 walks and 27 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. Obviously, working on his command is an important part of what Hill needs to progress. Hill is not ranked by MLB Pipeline.
Danyony Pulido (RHP) – The 22-year-old reliever saved five games in six opportunities for Clearwater in 2025. Pulido pitched in 22 games covering 30.2 innings with 19 walks and 35 strikeouts in 2025. After pitching three seasons in the Dominican Summer League, Pulido has gone 9-4, 2.72 in 106 innings. He has 62 walks and 126 strikeouts in 71 games. Pulido is not ranked by MLB Pipeline.
Giussepe Velazquez (RHP) – The 22-year-old came to the Phillies from Venezuela, signing with the team in 2021. signed with the Phillies out of Venezuela in 2021. His career path has been much like that of Pulido, having spent his first three seasons in the organization pitching in the Dominican Summer League. In 26 minor league games, Velazquez has a career 4.01 ERA in 92 innings with 37 walks and 91 strikeouts. Velazquez is not ranked by MLB Pipeline.
The names of other players who the Phillies may send to the ABL have not been released.
