Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The IronPigs edged out the Toledo Mud Hens 5–4 in a tightly contested matchup at Coca-Cola Park, improving to 81–54 on the season. After trailing 2–0 early, Lehigh Valley’s offense came alive in the fifth and sixth innings. Payton Henry got the IronPigs on the board with an RBI single in the fifth. The sixth inning proved decisive: Johan Rojas singled, Donovan Walton doubled, and a throwing error on a grounder allowed both runners to score. Gabriel Rincones Jr. scored on a run on a wild pitch, and Rafael Lantigua capped the rally with an RBI single to make it 5–2.

On the mound, Walker Buehler made his debut in the Phillies organization Saturday night, throwing three innings. Seth Johnson (4–5, 4.94) earned the win despite a shaky outing, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in 1.2 innings. Nolan Hoffman secured his fourth save with a scoreless ninth, striking out one and allowing just one hit. The bullpen held firm after Toledo narrowed the gap with a two-run single from Riley Unroe in the seventh.

Lehigh Valley is now 17–2 in one-run games at home this season.

Reading Fightin Phils

Reading staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Hartford Yard Goats 9–7, improving to 51–78 overall. Trailing 5–0 after two innings, the Fightins clawed back with a four-run rally in the fifth. Robert Moore and Aidan Miller reached base, and Alex Binelas drove in Moore. Jose Rodriguez followed with an RBI single, and Bryson Ware’s groundout plated another run. Caleb Ricketts added an RBI single to bring Reading within one. In the sixth, Miller singled, Binelas walked, and Rodriguez reached on a fielder’s choice. A throwing error allowed Miller to score, and Felix Reyes delivered a clutch single to drive in two more, giving Reading a 7–5 lead. Hartford tied it in the seventh, but Reading responded in the eighth with a walk by Binelas and a single from Rodriguez. A passed ball moved both runners up, and a subsequent hit gave Reading the final margin.

Gabriel Barbosa provided key relief innings to stabilize the game, while Alex McFarlane (1–0, 6.75) earned the win despite allowing two runs in the seventh. Reading’s offense was powered by timely singles and aggressive baserunning.

Jersey Shore BlueClaws

Saturday’s game between the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and Brooklyn Cyclones was cancelled due to inclement weather. The game will not be made up. The teams are scheduled to conclude their series with a regular season finale on Sunday, September 7 at 1:05 p.m.

Clearwater’s offense came in the fifth inning. Logan Dawson singled for his first hit in professional ball, and Manolfi Jimenez reached on a fielder’s choice. With two outs, Nathan Humphreys crushed a 2–0 pitch to deep right for a two-run homer, his latest in a strong stretch of games. It was Humphreys’ 12th home run of the season. Clearwater managed two hits in the ninth but couldn’t mount a final rally.

On the mound, Gage Wood (0-1, 4.50), the Phillies first round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, struck out five in two innings, including striking out the side in the first, but was tagged with the loss. Like Dawson, Wood was making his professional debut. Angel Liranzo allowed four runs – one earned – in three innings, while Adilson Peralto gave up one run in two innings.
