Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs outslugged the Omaha Storm Chasers 10–7 in a high-scoring affair at Werner Park. Lehigh Valley’s offense was powered by a barrage of home runs, with six different players going deep. Gabriel Rincones Jr. led the charge with two solo shots, giving him four home runs and 10 RBI in the last three games. Rodolfo Castro added a three-run blast while Rafael Lantigua, Justin Crawford, and Otto Kemp each contributed solo homers. Crawford also stole a base and drove in two runs on a 2-for-4 night, while Rincones matched him with two RBIs and two hits. Castro’s 2-for-4 performance included three RBI and a stolen base. Crawford now has three home runs in the last four games and a five-game hitting streak during which he is batting .435 (10-for-23) with six RBI. The IronPigs totaled 10 hits and 10 RBI, with every run coming via the long ball.
On the mound, Andrew Painter battled through six innings, allowing six earned runs on nine hits while striking out seven. Nolan Hoffman earned his fifth victory with two innings of one-run relief, and Max Lazar closed the door with a perfect ninth for his fifth save. The pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and issued only three walks.
Lehigh Valley improved to 75–53 on the season and 29–25 in the second half. Their power display and timely bullpen work proved decisive in a game where both teams tallied 10 hits.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading fell 7–4 to the Chesapeake Baysox at FirstEnergy Stadium, unable to overcome a steady offensive output from the visitors. The Fightins managed six hits and drew three walks, but struggled to string together rallies. Caleb Ricketts (16 games) and Felix Reyes (13 games) extended their hitting streaks. Reyes is batting .418 (23-for-55) and Ricketts is hitting .343 (23-for-67) and now has the longest hitting streak for the Fightins since 2018. Ricketts drove in two runs in the game with Nick Dunn and Leandro Pineda both driving in one run. Reading’s offense lacked the power to match Chesapeake, who hit three extra-base hits including Overn’s third Double-A homer. The Fightins were held hitless over the final two innings, and Gerald Ogando closed out the game for the Baysox with a scoreless ninth.
Jean Cabrera took the loss, dropping to 6–7 on the season. He allowed four runs – three earned – on six hits over 4.2 innings, striking out four and walking one. Cabrera was tagged early, surrendering an RBI single in the first and a two-run homer to Austin Overn in the fifth. The bullpen provided mixed results: Wesley Moore allowed two runs in 2.1 innings, while Andrew Walling tossed a scoreless ninth.
Reading dropped to 47–74 overall and 22–32 in the second half.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Jersey Shore rallied late to defeat Aberdeen 4–3 in Maryland, snapping a two-game skid. Dante Nori sparked the ninth-inning comeback with a single, later scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Nori finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Avery Owusu-Asiedu also had a standout game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single in the first and a leadoff double in the eighth. Trent Farquhar added an RBI double in the first and a key sacrifice bunt in the eighth. Jose Colmenares tied the game with an eighth inning sacrifice fly, and also stole two bases. In alo, ,the BlueClaws stole six bases, showcasing aggressive baserunning.
On the mound, Sam Highfill allowed three runs over five innings, striking out four. The bullpen was stellar: Jose Pena and Titan Kennedy-Hayes each threw scoreless frames, and Cristhian Tortosa earned the win with two dominant innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit.
Jersey Shore improved to 61–62 on the season. Their combination of speed, clutch hitting, and shutdown relief pitching proved decisive in a tightly contested matchup.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater dropped its fifth straight game, falling 5–3 to the Daytona Tortugas at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Despite a promising start, the Threshers couldn’t hold an early 2-0 lead. Raider Tello drove in the first run on a fielder’s choice, and a balk allowed a second run to score in the two-run third inning. Carter Mathison added an RBI single in the sixth, finishing with his ninth multi-hit game of the season. Clearwater’s offense was limited to five hits and failed to reach base after the sixth inning. Jonathan Hogart extended his hitting streak to three games, and Nikau Pouaka-Grego scored a run after being hit by a pitch. The team’s defense faltered at key moments, including a costly error and a balk that led to runs.
Ryan Degges delivered a standout performance on the mound, striking out nine over four innings while allowing two runs on four hits. His nine strikeouts tied the team’s season high. Maxwel Hernandez took the loss, surrendering three runs in 2.2 innings. Luis Avila closed out the game with 1.1 scoreless innings.
The Threshers fell to 65–55 overall and 29–25 in the second half. Despite Degges’ impressive outing, the team was undone by defensive miscues and a lack of late-inning offense.
