Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs delivered a dominant offensive performance, scoring 10 unanswered runs after falling behind 3–0 in the first inning. Brewer Hicklen sparked the rally with a solo homer in the third and Rodolfo Castro followed with a two-run blast in the fourth, his 14th of the year, tying him for the team lead. The fifth inning was a showcase of clutch hitting: Justin Crawford doubled home a run, Johan Rojas added an RBI single, Donovan Walton doubled in another, and Garrett Stubbs capped the frame with an RBI single. Crawford continued his hot night with a third RBI single in the sixth, and Walton added another RBI in the seventh. The team totaled 10 runs on 11 hits, with multi-hit games from Crawford, Walton, and Stubbs. On the mound, Andrew Painter earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five. The bullpen was airtight, with four scoreless innings to close out the game.
Reading Fightin Phils
Felix Reyes had three hits and scored three runs in five at-bats in Reading’s 10-7 loss to Akron on Saturday night. Paul Carson, Carlos DeMartini, and Nick Dunn each collected two hits with Dunn and DeMartini each scoring a run. Akron hit four home runs in the game, including a pair from shortstop Alex Mooney. The only home run for the Fightins came in the sixth inning when Dylan Campbell hit a solo home run. On the mound, starter Jean Cabrera allowed two home runs in 4.1 innings, both coming on solo home runs. Akron erupted for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 5-2 Reading lead. Reliever Eiberson Castellano got the final two outs in the fifth before being hit for four earned runs in the sixth, getting just one out. Tommy McCollum came on in relief and allowed three more runs to score. Andrew Bechtold threw a perfect inning in the seventh and Andrew Baker allowed two hits and a walk in the eighth, but did not allow Akron to cross the plate. John McMillon allowed a ninth inning run to Akron.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Jersey Shore started strong but couldn’t sustain momentum against Wilmington’s pitching as the Blue Rocks picked up a 6-2 win at home Saturday night. Avery Owusu-Asiedu opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first, and Jordan Dissin added an RBI single in the fifth to give the BlueClaws a 2–0 lead. Aroon Escobar and Kodey Shojinaga each collected two hits, with Escobar continuing his hot streak with his fifth multi-hit game in six outings. However, starter Ryan Dromboski struggled in his Jersey Shore debut, surrendering five runs over six innings, including a pivotal four-run fifth inning. Jared McKenzie’s solo homer in the sixth extended Wilmington’s lead, and Jersey Shore’s offense stalled from there. Luke Gabrysh allowed one run in relief during his first appearance since joining the BlueClaws from Clearwater. The ‘Claws managed eight hits but were just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The loss dropped them to 26–20 in the second half. Despite the setback, Escobar’s consistency and Dissin’s timely hitting were encouraging signs for the offense.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater’s offense was lively, collecting 10 hits and threatening late, but defensive lapses and wild pitching proved costly as the Threshers dropped a 10-6 decision to Lakeland. Raider Tello was the standout performer, going 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, and three runs scored. He drove in two runs and extended his on-base streak to seven games, hitting .538 during that stretch. Tyler Pettorini added two RBI, and Carter Mathison contributed a late RBI double. The Threshers scored in five separate innings and loaded the bases in the ninth, bringing the tying run to the plate before falling short. On the mound, Zack Tukis took the loss, allowing three runs in less than an inning. Adilson Peralta struggled with control, walking five and giving up four runs in two innings. Luis Avila was a bright spot, striking out four over three scoreless innings. Despite the loss, Clearwater showed resilience and offensive depth, with six different players reaching base multiple times. The defeat dropped them to 62–49 overall, but the lineup continues to show promise.
