Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs dropped a 10–5 decision to the Buffalo Bisons despite a promising start. Lehigh Valley opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning, courtesy of a bases-loaded walk drawn by Christian Arroyo and a sacrifice fly from Garrett Stubbs. Arroyo continued his productive night with a two-run single in the fourth and an RBI double in the ninth, finishing with four RBI. Alec Bohm, on a rehab assignment, added two hits to his tally, showing solid contact throughout the game.
Pitching, however, faltered after the fourth inning. Starter Alan Rangel allowed four earned runs, including a pivotal three-run homer by Jonatan Clase in the fifth. The bullpen struggled to contain Buffalo’s offense, surrendering six more runs across the fifth and sixth innings. R.J. Schreck’s two-run double and Yohendrick Piñango’s solo homer in the seventh sealed the IronPigs’ fate.
Despite the loss, Arroyo’s four-RBI performance and Bohm’s consistent hitting were bright spots. The team’s early offensive execution was sharp, but pitching depth and control issues proved costly late in the game.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading fell 9–8 in a back-and-forth thriller against the Akron RubberDucks. Catcher Paul McIntosh led the charge with two home runs, driving in four runs and giving Reading multiple leads throughout the game. His first blast came in the opening inning, scoring Felix Reyes. His second came in the sixth, reclaiming a 4–3 lead. Erick Brito added a clutch two-run homer in the eighth, giving Reading an 8–7 advantage before Akron rallied in the ninth.
Offensively, Reading collected 11 hits. Reyes had two hits and an RBI, while Aidan Miller contributed a go-ahead RBI double in the fifth. Brito also doubled earlier in the game and scored twice. The team showed resilience, responding to Akron’s rallies with timely hits and aggressive baserunning.
Pitching was less consistent. Starter Estibenzon Jimenez allowed five earned runs, including a two-run single by Angel Genao in the seventh. Reliever John McMillon took the loss after surrendering the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the ninth. Andrew Baker allowed the decisive RBI single to Tyresse Turner.
Despite the defeat, McIntosh’s power and Brito’s late-game heroics showcased Reading’s offensive depth. The bullpen’s inability to close out the ninth was the difference.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
Jersey Shore fell 6–4 to the Wilmington Blue Rocks in a tightly contested matchup at Frawley Stadium. The BlueClaws struck first in the top of the second inning, when catcher Kodey Shojinaga singled and was driven in by a two-run triple from left fielder Joel Dragoo. Dragoo’s hit was the offensive highlight for Jersey Shore, marking his first triple of the season and bringing his RBI total to six. Designated hitter Brock Vradenburg also reached base and scored in the inning, contributing to the early 2–1 lead.
Offensively, Jersey Shore managed just two hits across the game, both coming in the second inning. Shojinaga and Dragoo were the only players to record hits, and the team struggled to generate momentum after the early burst. They left just one runner on base and went 1-for-2 with runners in scoring position, underscoring the limited opportunities they had to extend their lead.
On the mound, starter Sam Highfill pitched two innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out two. He showed solid command, throwing 27 pitches with 19 strikes. However, the bullpen couldn’t hold Wilmington at bay. The Blue Rocks broke the game open in the bottom of the second with a bases-clearing double from Elijah Nunez, turning a 1–0 deficit into a 4–2 lead. Jersey Shore’s pitching staff allowed six runs in total, and the offense couldn’t recover.
Despite the loss, Dragoo’s clutch hit and Highfill’s efficient start were bright spots. The team will look to rebound with more consistent offense and deeper pitching support in the next matchup.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater earned a 9–6 victory over the Lakeland Flying Tigers, fueled by a five-run sixth inning and a strong bat from Robert Phelps. Phelps delivered a three-run double in the first inning and later scored in the sixth, finishing with three RBI. Luke Davis added a two-run single in the sixth and scored earlier in the game. Tyler Pettorini reached base twice and drove in a run, while Dante Nori walked twice and scored twice.
The Threshers showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks and capitalizing on a key throwing error in the sixth that allowed two runs to score. Jonathan Hogart reached base twice and drove in a run, while Manolfi Jimenez was hit by a pitch and scored.
Pitching was a group effort. Starter Ryan Degges allowed three runs over four innings with four strikeouts. Juan Amarante earned the win with three innings of relief, striking out four and allowing two runs. Danny Wilkinson and Orlando Gonzalez each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game, with Gonzalez earning the save.
Clearwater’s offense was timely and efficient, with seven of their nine runs coming with two outs. Phelps and Davis were instrumental in clutch situations, and the bullpen held firm after Lakeland’s sixth-inning rally.
