Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs overcame a rocky start to storm back with nine unanswered runs in a 9–4 victory over Buffalo. After allowing four runs in the first inning, Gabe Mosser settled in and pitched through the fourth. Daniel Harper earned the win with a scoreless fifth, and the bullpen trio of José Alvarado, Lou Trivino, and Phil Bickford combined for four shutout innings to close out the game. Offensively, Justin Crawford was the spark, driving in two with a second-inning double and adding a safety squeeze RBI in the fourth. Alec Bohm grounded out to score Crawford in the second and later launched a solo homer in the sixth, his second of the season. Brewer Hicklen gave Lehigh Valley the lead with an RBI single in the fifth, and Robert Moore added insurance with a two-run homer in the seventh, his first at Triple-A. Donovan Walton capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The IronPigs tallied 11 hits and drew five walks in the win.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading’s six-game win streak came to an end in a 10-inning thriller against Akron. Caleb Ricketts opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second, his second in as many nights. Griff McGarry was dominant on the mound, striking out 12 over six shutout innings and retiring the final 15 batters he faced. Tristan Garnett allowed the tying run in the eighth on a wild pitch after Jake Fox tripled. In the tenth, Akron broke the game open with five runs, aided by a pair of throwing errors and a two-run single by Wuilfredo Antunez. Andrew Walling took the loss, allowing all five runs in the extra frame. Reading mounted a rally in the bottom of the tenth with RBI hits from Carson DeMartini and Ricketts, and a bases-loaded walk, but fell short. The Fightins collected seven hits and drew five walks, with Ricketts driving in two and reaching base three times. Despite the loss, McGarry’s performance was a season-best and one of the most dominant outings by a Reading pitcher this year.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
The game between the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and Wilmington Blue Rocks was suspended due to rain after two innings, with Jersey Shore leading 2–1. Starter Pablo Aldonis pitched two innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out one and walking one. Offensively, the BlueClaws struck early. Elijah Nunez tripled and scored, and catcher Caleb Lomavita drove in a run with an RBI single. The game showed early promise for Jersey Shore, with aggressive baserunning and solid contact at the plate. However, heavy rain forced the suspension before the third inning could be completed. The game is scheduled to resume the following day, followed by a seven-inning contest.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater earned a gritty 4–2 win behind a clutch fourth-inning rally and strong pitching. Ramon Marquez was excellent, striking out eight over five innings while allowing just one run on three hits. Zuher Yousuf followed with three innings of one-run ball, striking out five, and Danyony Pulido closed it out with a perfect ninth for the save. Offensively, the Threshers broke through in the fourth after trailing 1–0. Nathan Humphreys singled, and Will Vierling added another hit before Carter Mathison drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Luke Davis then delivered the decisive blow, a three-run double off the centerfield wall, giving Clearwater a 4–1 lead. Davis tied a career high with three RBIs, and Ferrara picked up his first professional hit. The Threshers managed seven hits and drew four walks, showing timely hitting and plate discipline. Their pitching staff allowed just two hits over the final three innings, sealing the win and snapping Lakeland’s momentum.
