Alec Bohm, who has been on the IL since July 19th with a fractured left rib, has been taking BP and doing infield work with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs this week. He will officially begin a rehab assignment with the team today. Bohm suffered the injury on July 12 when he was hit by a pitch and attempted to play through the injury, but the pain kept increasing and he went on the IL.

The Lehigh Valley lineup has Bohm batting third and playing third base. He is slated to play seven innings against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. The top three in the IronPigs batting order are prospect Justin Crawford, who is in left field. Crawford is followed by recently optioned Johan Rojas, who is in center. It is also expected that reliever Jose Alvarado will pitch an inning on Sunday for Lehigh Valley as he works his way back from an 80-game suspension for having banned substances in his system.

Earlier this week, Aaron Nola made his second rehab start with Lehigh Valley and will make his third and likely final rehab start with the team Tuesday when they play in Buffalo. That would put him in line to pitch next Sunday when the Phillies play in Washington. Philadelphia opens a three-game home series with Seattle the following day.

There is no immediate timetable for when Bohm will return to the Phillies lineup. A lot of the details will depend on how he feels after playing Sunday.
