Lehigh Valley IronPigs
The IronPigs edged out the Norfolk Tides 5–3 in a tightly contested game at Coca-Cola Park. Andrew Painter made his first start since the All-Star break and delivered a solid outing. He pitched six innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four. Painter was particularly sharp early, retiring the first nine batters and working efficiently through the fifth inning before surrendering a two-run homer in the fourth.
Offensively, Josh Breaux was a key contributor, driving in two runs with a pair of RBI singles. Cal Stevenson played the hero role, launching a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth – the first pinch-hit walk-off in franchise history. The IronPigs had previously tied the game in the sixth and eighth innings, showing resilience throughout. The win improved their record to 58–39 and marked their third walk-off victory of the series.
Reading Fightin Phils
Reading fell 6–2 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies despite a promising start. Will Crowe, a former MLB pitcher, opened with a scoreless first and struck out three straight in the third to escape a jam. He exited after three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five. Mitch Neunborn followed with a scoreless frame, but the bullpen faltered in the sixth and eighth innings.
Aidan Miller was the offensive spark, reaching base twice and scoring both of Reading’s runs. He singled in the first, then stole second and third before scoring on a fielder’s choice. In the eighth, Miller reached again and scored on a Hendry Mendez RBI single – Mendez drove in both of Reading’s runs. Despite Miller’s aggressive baserunning and Mendez’s clutch hitting, Reading couldn’t overcome Binghamton’s late power surge, which included two home runs.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws
The BlueClaws rallied for a 5–4 win over Wilmington in a game filled with defensive miscues and late drama. Gabriel Barbosa pitched 7.2 innings, allowing four runs – two earned – on six hits while striking out five. He nearly became the first BlueClaws pitcher in seven years to complete eight innings but was pulled after a game-tying error in the eighth.
Offensively, Aroon Escobar sparked the comeback with a “Little League” home run in the fourth, scoring on two throwing errors. Raylin Heredia added an RBI single in the fifth, and Devin Saltiban crushed a solo homer in the sixth – his second in as many games. In the eighth, Escobar tripled and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Eduardo Tait. Saul Teran closed the door with a scoreless ninth to seal the win.
Clearwater Threshers
Clearwater completed a three-game sweep of the Bradenton Marauders with a 6–2 victory at BayCare Ballpark. Starter Kevin Warunek was dominant, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out seven. He scattered five hits and walked none, showcasing excellent command and poise.
The offense was led by TJayy Walton, who went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a double. Ricardo Rosario added a two-run single in the third, and Ryan Degges chipped in with an RBI double in the fifth. The Threshers padded their lead with a solo shot from Felix Reyes in the seventh. The bullpen held firm, with two scoreless innings from reliever Micah Ottenbreit and a clean ninth from closer Daniel Harper. The win pushed Clearwater’s record to 25–21 and kept them in contention in the Florida State League West.
