Here’s a breakdown of the July 3, 2025 games for each of the Phillies’ minor league affiliates:
Lehigh Valley IronPigs: The IronPigs snapped a three-game losing streak with a thrilling 6–5 walk-off win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Andrew Painter, the Phillies’ top pitching prospect, started and struck out seven over five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits. Michael Mercado earned the win in relief with a scoreless ninth inning and two strikeouts. Offensively, Weston Wilson was the standout performer, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and three RBIs. His two-run double in the seventh tied the game, and he later scored the winning run on Keaton Anthony’s clutch two-run single in the ninth. The IronPigs collected 10 hits and went 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Reading Fightin Phils: Reading edged out the Somerset Patriots 2–1 in a tightly contested matchup at FirstEnergy Stadium, snapping a two-game skid. Right-hander Chuck King delivered one of his finest outings of the season, earning his fourth win by tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball. He scattered five hits, walked one, and struck out four. Andrew Walling relieved King in the sixth and escaped a jam with two quick outs. He then worked around a leadoff double in the seventh, aided by third baseman Erick Brito’s heads-up play to cut down a runner at home. Tommy McCollum closed the door with two dominant innings to seal the win.
Offensively, Reading struck early. Aidan Miller reached on an infield single and promptly stole second. Jose Rodriguez followed with a sharp single up the middle to plate Miller and give Reading a 1–0 lead. Rodriguez later added another hit and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning on a slow roller by Hendry Mendez, allowing all runners to advance safely. Miller reached base three times, showcasing his speed and plate discipline.
Jersey Shore BlueClaws: The BlueClaws dropped a 7–5 contest to the Wilmington Blue Rocks despite a strong offensive showing. Casey Steward took the loss, surrendering seven runs over four innings. Jersey Shore’s bullpen was excellent, with five relievers combining for five scoreless innings. Offensively, Nick Biddison hit his first home run with the team, and Avery Owusu-Asiedu added a solo shot and an RBI single. Elio Prado chipped in with an RBI double, and Zach Arnold drove in a run with a single. The BlueClaws rallied late, but a rain delay stalled their momentum. They finished with 10 hits and showed promise, especially from their bullpen and middle-of-the-order bats.
Clearwater Threshers: Clearwater’s game against the Tampa Tarpons was suspended because of rain in the bottom of the fourth inning with Tampa leading 3-2. Aroon Escobar hit his 11th home run of the season with one out in the first inning for the Threshers. Clearwater entered the matchup on a seven-game losing streak and were looking to rebound at home.
