Three pitchers combined on a seven-inning no-hitter for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws in a 6-0 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks. on Wednesday. The trio – Alex McFarlane, Ethan Chenault, and Josh Hejka – allowed two walks and one hit batter as the only players to reach base for Wilmington.

McFarlane (1-7, 5.65) got the start and the win, throwing the first five innings and allowed four hits and a walk to go along with a hit batter. Chenault (5.30) and Hejka (6.00) both threw an inning, striking out one batter with Chenault also issuing a walk in the game. The three pitchers threw 83 pitches, 51 for strikes as the BlueClaws upped their record to 4-7 in the second half and 29-45 overall.

Six different Jersey Shore players collected hits with Avery Owusu-Asiedu and Jordan Dissin collecting doubles. The ‘Claws scored all six runs in the fifth inning with Luis Caicuto driving in the first two runs when he singled to center with runners on second and third. After Jersey Shore loaded the bases, Nick Biddison singled to left to make it 4-0. With runners on second and third, pitcher Jared Simpson balked in a run and Kehden Hettiger drove in another run with a groundball to first to cap the six-run fifth inning.

The no-hitter was the nightcap of a doubleheader that saw Jersey Shore win the opener 5-3 with starter Gabriel Barbosa (1-0, 1.59) going 5.2 innings and allowing just one run while striking out five. Saul Teran got the final four outs to record his fifth save of the season.
