Four of the top five Phillies prospects are scheduled to play in the Spring Breakout Game against Pittsburgh. This game is set for March 14th. Andrew Painter is the only top prospect who will not play in the game. He is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in 2023.
Moises Chace is the Phillies’ number-five prospect. He joined the Phillies in the Gregory Soto deal last summer, and is the highest ranked of the pitching prospects on the roster. The 21-year-old was 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA at High-A Aberdeen in the Orioles organization last season and then went a combined 3-2, 3.82 in 28.1 innings with High-A Jersey Shore and AA Reading in the Phillies organization.
Other top 25 pitching prospects on the roster include right-handers Jean Cabrera, Alex McFarlane, and lefty Mavis Graves. Other pitching prospects include: Micah Ottenbreit, Griff McGarry, Luis Avila, Aaron Combs, Daniel Harper, Gunner Mayer, Brad Pacheco, and Casey Steward, who are all right-handers. Graves is the only left-handed pitcher on the team roster.
Eduardo Tait is the Phillies number-four prospect and heads the list of young catchers who are on the roster. Tait won’t turn 19 until late August and played in 28 games for Low-A Clearwater last season where he hit five home runs and drove in 24 runs to go with a slash line of .269/.316/.462. MLB.com lists him as the 92nd best prospect in baseball. Joining Tait are catchers Alirio Ferrebus and Jordan Dissin.
The list of infielders on the roster boasts two of the top 10 prospects in the organization in shortstop Aidan Miller, the 27th best prospect in all of baseball, and Devin Saltiban, a 20-year-old middle infielder who hit 17 home runs for Clearwater last season. Miller started the spring in Phillies camp before being sent to minor league camp. Miller, 20, played at three levels last season, progressing from Clearwater to Reading. In 102 games, Miller hit 11-60-.261/.366/.446.
Other infield prospects on the roster include: Aroon Escobar, Bryan Rincon, Carson DeMartini, Otto Kemp, and Keaton Anthony.
The name to know in the outfield is Justin Crawford. The 21-year-old son of former major league outfielder Carl Crawford, is the Phillies number-three prospect and is ranked 63rd in all of baseball. Crawford played 70 games at Jersey Shore and 40 with Reading in 2024, producing a line of 9-61-.313/.360/.444 with 42 stolen bases in 51 attempts. Two other top 10 prospects are on the list of outfielders for the Phillies with Daniel Nori (6th) and Gabriel Rincones, Jr. (10th) both expected to see some playing time in the Spring Breakout Game. Rincones opened eyes in the Phillies camp this spring and is a player to watch this summer.
The remaining outfielders on the roster are TJayy Walton and Hendry Mendez.
Mick Abel is not scheduled to pitch in the game and is still in major league camp with the Phillies, but will be on the roster.
