With an infield that has been decimated by injuries, the Phillies have been keeping an eye out for veteran utility infielders who may be able to chip in if needed. Their most recent look went toward the Minnesota Twins where they found Daniel Robertson, who they were able to add in exchange for cash considerations. Robertson was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and is not on the 40-man roster.

Robertson has played parts of three seasons in the majors – three with Tampa Bay, one with San Francisco and last season with Milwaukee – amassing a slash line of 18-78-.227/.338/.345 and has played in 300 major league games. Defensively, Robertson has played primarily second, third and short, while dabbling in left field (7 games), right field (1 game) and first base (4 games). For what it is worth, he has also pitched in three MLB games and has three shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks. He also lacks any strikeouts to his credit.

This season, Robertson played seven games in the Florida Complex League where he batted .318 and most recently was with Triple-A St. Paul and batted .183 in 17 games. Oakland selected Robertson with the third pick in the compensatory round of the 2012 Draft.

The Phillies infield may be getting an important piece back this week. Johan Camargo (right knee strain) played in three rehab games with the IronPigs over the weekend, going 2-for-12 (.167) and may be activated in time to join the Phillies Tuesday when they play against the Texas Rangers. Nick Maton (shoulder sprain) is rehabbing at the Phillies complex in Clearwater and second baseman Jean Segura (broken finger) is on the 60-day IL.

Lehigh Valley currently has Scott Kingery (.211), Drew Maggi (.200) and Will Toffey (.234) as their primary second base, shortstop and third base options, with Dalton Guthrie (.252) able to play in the middle infield and in the outfield. If Camargo is activated, Yairo Munoz may be sent back to Lehigh Valley to join the infield mix.
