OFFENSE: Jhailyn Ortiz narrowly missed hitting his first home run of the spring in the bottom of the seventh inning. Instead, the ball caromed off the wall to give Ortiz a triple. He later scored on a chopper through the infield by Yairo MunozJ.T. Realmuto drove in Jean Segura with an RBI double and Luke Williams singled to drive in Johan Camargo. Both RBI tied the game at the time until Munoz put them ahead… Seven different players had one hit each… Phillies hitters struck out nine times.

KEY PLAY: The Phillies infield was looking sharp and their pitchers were throwing groundballs. Four of the seven baserunners that the Blue Jays had were erased on double-play balls in the game.

PHILLIES NOTES: The signings of Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos are not yet official. Both players have to pass physicals before they are considered done deals… TV broadcaster Tom McCarthy took a foul ball off his chest Saturday. The ball flew into the booth while McCarthy had his head down looking at his scorebook. Broadcast partner Ruben Amaro Jr. attempted to block the ball, but could not reach far enough to deflect it away from McCarthy. The Phillies lead broadcaster was okay and did the rest of the game.

NEXT ON THE AGENDA: The Phillies travel to North Port, Florida to play the World Series Champion Atlanta Braves. Kyle Gibson is slated to make his first start of the year for Philadelphia and Kyle Muller will start for Atlanta.
