Adonis Medina spent 24 days on the IL last month before returning to the IronPigs rotation on July 27. He continued his return Tuesday night against Buffalo with another strong outing.

In his first outing last month, Medina allowed one hit and struck out three over two innings of work, needing just 25 pitches to get through his initial return. Tuesday night he was even stronger, retiring all six batters that he faced, picking up two strikeouts in the first inning against Buffalo. He threw 23 pitches – 16 for strikes – but was again lifted after just two innings.

On the season, Medina is now 3-5 with a 5.25 ERA in 12 starts with Lehigh Valley. He has struck out 38 batters in 48 innings while walking 17 batters. Medina made his MLB debut last season with the Phillies, making one start and taking the loss while giving up two earned runs in four innings of work in his lone game.

Medina is set to start against Buffalo again on Sunday to wrap up the six-game series with the Bisons.

Lehigh Valley’s bullpen provided seven innings of relief, allowing just one run on five hits and two walks, while striking out eight Buffalo hitters. Braeden Ogle, who was acquired from Pittsburgh for minor league catcher Abrahan Gutierrez, made his IronPigs debut and pitched one shutout inning, striking out two batters. Of his 19 pitches, 10 were for strikes.

Offensively, Charlie Tilson and Mickey Moniak continued to swing hot bats with each collecting two hits. Tilson drove in two runs and Moniak drove in one for the IronPigs. Ruben Tejada and Sal Gozzo both had three hits in the game, with Tejada scoring three times and Gozzo driving in two runs. Catcher Rodolfo Duran also got in on the hit parade with two hits and a run scored. In all, Lehigh Valley banged out 13 hits, including three doubles.

Lehigh Valley is now 35-41 on the season and upped their home record to 20-17. The ‘Pigs and Bisons play game two of their series Wednesday night at 7:05 with Christopher Sanchez (2-4, 4.46) going against Buffalo left-hander Anthony Kay (0-2, 8.69).
